Q: Help! My surgery is tomorrow and I've suddenly had a change of heart. I want to be bigger/smaller/over/under/through the armpit/through the navel/etc, which is different than what I last discussed with my surgeon! What can I do? A: Take a deep breath. Relax. If it's just a small change, there's a good chance your surgeon will be able to accomodate you. Give your surgeon's office a call and explain the situation. Make a post to a forum to get some advice and reassurances. That said, this is something best not left for the last moment. It is absolutely essential that during the pre-op consult you and your surgeon agree completely on all the details. If you're unsure about anything, that's the time to ask him, or as soon as possible afterwards. Also bear in mind that to the best of the surgeon's ability, he will adhere to "First, do no harm."
